English assistant

The assistant will have the opportunity to work in two different school : a junior school for about 5 hours a week and a catering vocational school where students prepare the NVQ level 1 and NVQ level 3 in food preparation and cooking as well as in food and beverage service for about 10 hours a week.

The schools are situated in the inner suburbs of Nantes' urban area  (about 7 km from the town centre) with a very good transportation network. Nantes is a city of  600,000 inhabitants, situated at 50 km from the seaside which offers a great number of social and cultural activities as well as an important university with a large number of European students.

Concerning the work in the catering school, his / her main tasks will be to work together with the teacher in the classroom or working independently with small groups of pupils in the English classes and the English European section classes;  assist the cookery teacher and the catering teacher who also teach English; work during the students'  practise in the kitchen and in the dining-room of the pedagogical restaurants; assist the teacher in charge of the European projects and also propose some English lessons to the adults of the school.

His / her activity in the junior school will be to work with small groups of children using playful pedagogic tools.

We provide free accomodation to the assistant in the boarding school (room with a bathroom and the possibility to cook at the weekends) and all the meals are free of charge for lunch and dinner from Monday to Friday.  A bike can also be lended.

The English teacher of the catering school will be in charge of all the problems inside and outside the school.
