Volja is an atelier and menswear brand that combines a 80m2 workspace and store, and is run by a small team of assistants and collaborators under the lead designer Nejc Šubic. Located on the vibrant street of Trubarjeva in the city centre, Volja is in the heart of Ljubljana’s busy restaurant and boutique scene.

Volja is a brand rooted in circular design and small batch production practises. Durable and functional clothing is crafted from selected, certified and organic materials ranging from light cotton shirts to heavy workwear style jackets and pants. The brand is striving to implement transparent supply chains, quality fabrics with low enviromental impact and small local in house production. Freshly made garments are marked with a signature date-of-birth embroidery, signifying circular approach and point of view on sustanabilty in the fashion industry.

 

We are looking to constantly grow in all aspects of the brand, we welcome creative thinking and  independent work ethic. as an intern you will be working directly with the designer and get an insight into all atelier work. You will learn sewing techniques and work/design processes behind a growing menswear brand. 

 

As an intern we will help you develop:

  • drafting menswear patterns

  • advanced sewing skills

  • tailoring

  • sustainable supply chain insights

  • circular design 

  • workspace management

  • retailing

 

The intern will mentored by the designer and founder of Volja, Nejc Šubic. A graduate from University of Ljubljana - Fashion & textile design. His work experience in design studios around Europe has lead to creation of the Volja atelier and hands on knowledge of garment craftmaship. Nejc develops patterns and sews garments in the atelier with the help of a small team.

Required skills:

  • fluency in English

  • advanced sewing skills (understanding and executing phases of a garment’s construction and finishing)

  • basic pattern-making skills (understanding of pattern pieces and basic alterations to patterns or blocks)

  • interest in menswear design

  • interest in sustainable fashion production

Advantageous:

Your work will comprise of tasks such as :

  • developing new styles

  • exploring natural fabrics and supply chains

  • developing patterns

  • grading patterns

  • cutting

  • production on industrial sewing machines

  • operating embroidery machine

  • help with photoshoots

  • helping with organising events    

  • workspace management

 

The intern position is unpaid, however an Erasmus+ subsidy is possible. 

We are open for applications for an internship starting in September or as discussed. The deadline for application is June 30th. Preferred duration is 2 - 4 months with a minimum of 20 hour per week and full-time possibility, depending on skills and arrangement.
