Tomas Bata University is an open and flexible higher education institution, developed in accordance with five central values: entrepreneurship, openness, usefulness, creativity and responsibility. More than 9,000 students study at six TBU faculties. International students coming from all over the world and forming 10% of the student body help create an international environment at the University. On the other hand, Czech students are motivated to learn English and other foreign languages. All forms of international cooperation receive maximum support; our goal is to offer all students interested in spending at least a part of their studies abroad a possibility of doing so.

In the area of research, TBU has produced significant results mainly in the area of polymer engineering, applied informatics and creative specializations. The Centre of Polymer Systems is a new unit established thanks to the project of the same name financed from the European Funds and from the state budget of the Czech Republic. Focusing on applied research of polymers, the Centre is connecting the academic and business spheres.

The internship is offered in the four following fields:

  1. In addition to the material development of new plastics for existing applications, current development in the field of polymer materials processing follows the use of existing materials for completely new applications or the increasingly frequent need to define the use of recycled (waste) materials for the production of existing or new products. Please visit the website of the Polymer processing research group to find out all information about their projects.
  2. The field of research and development of nanomaterials and advanced technologies includes the preparation of structurally and functionally hierarchically organized hybrid functional materials and structures that are energy efficient. For these purposes phenomena occurring only at the nanometre level are used. They can be applied in plastics, electronics, sensors, (photo) catalysis, medicine, hygiene and elsewhere.
Please visit the website of the Nanomaterials and Advanced Technologies research group to find out all information about their projects.
  3. Biomaterials combine advanced material properties with biocompatibility. The research group is therefore interested in preparing smart materials that can respond to external stimuli, such as electric fields, by combining synthetic polymers, biopolymers and other materials such as metals or ceramics.
Please visit the website of the Biomaterials research group to find out all information about their projects.
  4. TBU has been actively developing energy storage devices in two main directions: supercapacitors and lithium-based batteries. However, we examine also other scientific questions with connection to preparation of magnetic nanoparticles and design of matrices for advanced bio composite systems, such as natural biocompatible and biodegradable polymers. Finally, we consider the clean energy transition going far beyond technology solutions and include life-cycle assessment and other socio-economic aspects into research.
Please visit the website of the Energy and Composite Materials research directions to find out all information about their projects.
