Normally, there are 4 interns at the Chamber and their daily tasks will depend on the Chamber’s business needs.

MARKET RESEARCH

A market research is usually requested by Italian companies that show an interest in entering the South-African market and want to start exporting to South-Africa.

An analysis of the market made by the Chamber of Commerce consists in a business report that includes the following:

  • Macroeconomic outlook of the current economic, political, administrative state of South Africa (i.e. growth, debt, political situation…etc.).
  • Focus on the specific sector of interest, i.e. volume of trade (import/export), current regulation and quotas, customs.
  • Data analysis and interpretation, which is developed through the use of interviews with the Chamber’s members about the feasibility of the market entry. In-depth interviews are conducted with those Chamber’s members who have an existing business in that sector, and who can potentially provide with administrative assistance.
  • Providing useful, practical information that can be found on governmental websites (i.e. South-African government, EU export guidelines…etc.) about logistics and bureaucracy.
  • Information on relevant events and exhibitions.
  • Final objective evaluation of the feasibility of the market entry.

CONTACT LIST

Throughout the years, the Chamber of Commerce retained a multitude of contacts, by working in partnership with private and public institution. In turn, the Chamber makes sure to share these contacts with the Italian companies who want to enter the South African market.

Later, the Chamber can take on the responsibility to scout the list of contacts on behalf of the client, and to survey the interest of a future collaboration.

Once the Chamber collects a sufficient number of responses, a potential company visit can be arranged at the South-African partner’s location in order to get more insights into the company’s activities.
